Super Start to the Season - Club Grades 6 and 5

Thu, 01st January By Claire richardson
Our amazing little Grade 5 & 6 Gymnasts travelled to Catterick Leisure Centre this weekend and started the 2016 competitive season in style. Exciting times for everyone, but for some of our young gymnasts this was their first ever competition.
The weekend started early for Claire and Paula who travelled up on Thursday to help prepare and set up the arena for the hundreds of competing gymnasts from all across Yorkshire. On Saturday morning our in age (2008) club grade 6 girls, Isabella W, Mayia, Elenah, Grace, Etta, Honey and Dimarni all competed brilliantly in a strong field of 52 other gymnasts, all fantastically passing with distinction.
Huge well done to Isabella W who finished in 10th place overall. Isabella also placed 2nd on Beam and 3rd on Bars, with Elenah and Dimarni sharing 3rd place on Vault. Very well done girls. Thank you to coaches Olivia and Eve for your hard work beforehand and for supporting the girls around the competition, they certainly did you proud.
The competition on Sunday was again a large one with 47 in age (2007) girls competing and trying to pass their British Gymnastic Club Grade 5. Huge thanks to coaches Eve and Emma for working so hard before the comp and for calming the nerves throughout the day. Eve, Elsie, Farrah, Emma, Freya, Naioni, Holly, Isabella D, Elvie and Megan all worked extremely hard, passing their grade and earning a shiny Distinction and 1 Commended sticker too.
Massive congratulations to Eve, all the hard work really paid off placing 2nd on Vault, 3rd on Range and Con and a brilliant 3rd place overall. Well done too to Elsie earning a fantastic 5th place ribbon. Congratulations also to Elvie who performed a super vault to finish in 3rd place on that piece.
We are very proud of you all. It just shows what can be achieved with hard work and determination. There were lots of other top 10 placing across the weekend on the different pieces of apparatus, check for the full scores.
Well done girls, keep up the good work.
